Platform Engineer required for a successful local business to support, maintain and continuously develop their bespoke ERP system; based in Manchester, paying up to £60K + Benefits and hybrid working to suit.
We are looking for someone who can own this bespoke ERP; built historically in Java & Linux (Debian specifically), with frontend Apps in PHP. (There are longer term big plans for this too, so please see below for more information)
This is probably best defined as a "Linux System Admin with some software development capabilities", or a Software Developer who has been in an environment where you've been managing Linux Servers and broader IT services.
After a detailed call with the IT Manager, we've had great insight into the current status of the product as well as long term opportunity to have ownership and deliver "nirvana" for the business for the future. You could make a real impact here, and long term.
This is an opportunity to join a business that rarely recruits as people genuinely stay for the long term where career development, job satisfaction, security and future opportunity take priority.
Ideally we're looking for as much of the following as possible, the first ones being the main focus:
- Linux Server Administration, Maintenance and Management - Debian being the ideal
- Some experience in Java, to make changes / support to the ERP
- Some experience in PHP to make system developments / new features for users
- Able to work with business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver business solutions and changes
- Database experience in SQL Server, MySQL, perhaps even MariaDB!
- Basic Windows Management would be great (Not essential)
- Experience of or integration with Sage products, also a nice to have (Not Essential)
This role would suit a creative problem solver, who enjoys seeking out issues and finding solutions; you'll need to be adaptable to technologies and will enjoy taking on a challenge to take a (slightly aging) bespoke product and over the long term deliver a new seamless product and experience for users for the future and the businesses long-term goals
I realise this is a unique mix of skills however is ideal for someone who has perhaps had broader experience as a Software Developer or Linux SysAdmin
I look forward to hearing from you and telling you more about this role; please click Apply and I'll be in touch
